iPod classic 7th gen bad hard drive or logic board

I have a 7th gen 120Gb ipod classic. Has been working well for years. All of a sudden today the ipod froze and now will not turn on. If I try to turn it on it just keeps displaying the apple logo and going into reset mode but never resetting. It just keeps trying to reset but never gets to the home screen. If I put the ipod in disk mode and connect to computer the computer cannot recognize the device or the hard drive. If I put it in diagnostic mode and try to to a hard drive test (HDSMARTData), it will not do the test and gives an error message. Does this sound like a bad hard drive or a bad logic board?

Answer this question I have this problem too

It’s a bad hard drive. it’s not 7th gen it’s 6th gen only remember if you are upgrading through iflash it’s limited to 120 gb.
