New battery- charges but still not recognised on Itunes?

I have tried everything!

I fitted a new battery it now charges but it still isnt recognised on itunes or on the computer at all?! However i do not have a wall charger only the USB (which worked fine for my 5th gen)- Also although it says the battery is charging it stops occasionally in which i then have to reset the ipod to get it to charge again.

I am no good at fixing ipods please help!

Coco, if you have a 4th gen iPodI would invest in am AC Firewire charger. the 4th gen does prefer the firewire. It can work with the USB but any restore will REQUIRE firewire. Your USB port may not supply enough amperage to get the battery going. If your battery is to discharged, itunes will not recognize your iPod. Also make sure that your dock connector is clean, no corrosion and no bent pins.

I will invest in a firwrie but also looking at the dock connector it does have a few bent pins? Will this mean buying a new logic board?

Coco, sometimes you can bend the pins back into shape if you A. have very good eyesight and a magnifying glass or some other means and B. very small tools, like toothpicks etc. Take your time with it, make sure you do not get frustrated etc. Otherwise, yes I believe you are looking toward purchasing a new logic board. It is really not a bad repair and is relatively inexpensive. Let us know how it is turning out. Good Luck

I tried bending them but alas no luck! Still not charging or recognised on the computer. I shall invest in a new logic board and see if this makes a difference. Many thanks for the advice!

You are welcome. The logic board is relatively inexpensive and I do purchase mine from here
