How to remove circuitboard from 7th gen fire?

I don’t see any teardowns for the 7th gen fire (model SR043KL) and it seems to be significantly different from older models.

My goal is to examine/repair the USB power port (only working now when I apply a lot of force in one direction).

The upper right of the board (upper left in the photo) appears to have a cable that connects to something on the screen side. I don’t know the right way to unplug this connector. How should I remove it?

The black cable runs to the front. I suppose I need to unplug the gold ribbon side and peel up the component. But I don’t see how to release the connector. Which portion moves and in which direction? I’ve tried gently pushing the tan section of the connector up and toward the ribbon, but nothing moved.

I think that’s a ZIF connector. To remove it, use your fingernail or the tip of a spudger to flip up the black locking flap, then pull the cable. Hope this helps! Do it at your own risk. Happy fixing!

Bingo. It is a ZIF, I'm just not that familiar with manipulating them. Knowing that the black part flipped up was what I needed. Unfortunately, it looks like I'm going to have to unglue/heatgun the cable from the board as well. Not looking forward to that part.

Nice video (I definitely hadn't found it before), but it doesn't show any detail of how the connector is opened. I assume folks are just familiar with it . It does confirm that the cable has to be removed.
