iPhone 6 plus restart every 3 minutes when screen on

Hi there, newbe here and i have an iphone 6 plus that keep restart every 3 minutes when the screen is on, also the iphone cpu getting very hot. The iphone will not restart if the screen off. And also i did connect it to power supply and the battery percentage jumping around such as from 90% to 49% to 55% and etc, and the iphone will restart. I also did replace tigris and tristar but no luck, I thought the problem at gas gauge line so, i did jumper from G1 AAP_TO_TIGRIS_SWI (U1401) to C1417 vcc main with 2 resistor 2.2k, one resistor on pp vcc main line and the other one on pp vcc main ground, The problem still exist.

From this moment i do not know what to do.

Story of this iphone is, i bought this iphone for me to practice repair and the iphone was touch diseasses i did jumper to m1 and it fixed now but the problem is the iphone keep restart every view minutes when the screen is on, not happening if the screen is off.

Sorry for my bad grammar, and Thank you for Help me to solve this problem.

Why did you put a pull-up and a pull-down resistor on the SWI line? All you did was create a voltage divider and force the SWI line at 50% of VCC_MAIN.

Take a step back and consider what you have done. I presume the phone worked fine before the Touch Disease repair (minus the touch issue of course). Therefore, you need to double-check your work in that area. It’s not uncommon to cause solder bridges underneath Meson. Check the voltage rails supplying Meson and Cumulus to see if there are any shorts, partial shorts, dislodged components etc. You could always pull it and check the condition of the pads.

Nor is it uncommon to float some components on the flip side of the board…the ones next to the connectors and underneath underfill. When too much heat is applied, they can get sucked up by the softer underfill and loose contact with the board.

Thank you Minho for your help, I did jumper SWI line because iphone battery jumping around before it restart.

I did check power rail/capacitor around cumulus and meson as you suggested and here it is,

Cumulus

C2403 = 1.79v

C2402 = 5.05v

C2432 = 1.46v

C2433 = 1.46v

Meson

C2439 = 2.47v

C2414 = 5.69v

C2409 = 5.68v

C2415 = 1.79v

It seems like every cap work as usually, Minho?

I doubt with R2410, may i know how to test it, Minho? Maybe i bridge L1 and M1, but how do i know before i pull meson and reball it?

What is "Cumulus_to_sage_boost_clk_en" do?

Thank you again Minho for your help.

Edit; i forgot to mention that iphone draw large amperage when i touched or slide up and down on the iphone lcd. Could it be bridged under meson chip?

I would remove the Meson IC. The phone will boot without it so it will help you understand if the problem is related to your reball or something else. The only way to know if you've bridged something underneath is to remove and try again.

Thanks Minho to get back to me again,

Yesterday i found out 6 loose cap around proximity sensor, i solder it back again but the problem still exist, here is what i did yesterday;

I gave a nudge on Q1101

I reballed U1580 and U1502

I reballed U1501

I reballed Meson again and Cumulus

I replaced Tristar

I reballed Tigris

I replaced Q1701

I reballed Q1403

I gave a nudge on Y3301_RF

I gave a nudge on U_PMICRF

the problem still exist, connect it to dc power supply or battery, the percentage showed 1% and jump to 72% and jump up down, then iphone restart, the iphone won't restart if the screen off.

The iphone 6 plus also didnt charged properly, it only draw 0.20-0.40A

Funny thing is, today i fixed iphone 6 no service, after all done i connect it to my dc power supply, the iphone 6 showed same problem with my iphone 6 plus, but the problem gone when i put the iphone 6 into the case with battery inside, i tried it on my 6 plus but no luck.

I didnt know that iphone still work without meson. I'll try it,

Thanks Minho.

Hi Hermawan, you've done a lot of stuff, which introduces a lot of variables for further troubleshooting. The vast majority of those components are far enough away from Meson that they should not have been affected by your Meson reball.

Probe all of the outputs from the PMIC to see if you can spot a sub-circuit that is problematic. Because you played around with the PMIC_RF, check those outputs as well.

Hi Minho, i tried to boot the iphone without meson but the problem still exist. I tried to boot it for second time but stuck on apple logo.

I probe all of the output from PMIC, all caps work as usuall except PP_GPU line no voltage, i measure all the pp_gpu caps and they are 52ohm.

I also probe all of the output from U_PMICRF

C3204_rf = .94v it should be 1.8v

C3206_rf = 0v it should be 1.8v

C3207_rf = 0v it should be 1.8v

C3214_rf = on and off 2.68v and then 0v

C3215_rf = on and off 2.68v and

Sorry Minho to trouble you,

Thank You Minho.
