Put Micro SD card in Sim Slot, resulting in dead Galaxy Tab

The Micro SD card was accidently put in the wrong slot. Unable to retrieve the Galaxy Tab heated up and then stopped working totally. I expect this will not be covered by warranty. What parts do I need to replace and will dismantling the unit give me access to the sim slot.

Answer this question I have this problem too

Sounds like you have shorted something out causing the failure. Likely the SD card is fried too.

Not likely yo be covered under warranty but it may be worth a try - depends if the just replace it or pull it apart first?

If you bought it recently with a credit card, the card company MAY have a purchase protection plan or accident insurance that you can claim on.

If no warranty or insurance then you have nothing to loose by opening it up. There is a tear down guideHERE

Examining the damage may reveal a simple issue that can be resolved.

After going through all of the questions about the storage card, camera not working, and not being able to download or open files, I have decided to buy a new card. Hopefully, that will solve all of the problems. Thanks richdave. Wish me luck. I'm not ready to buy a new tablet just yet.
