Why won't my MacBook turn on after installing new battery?

I purchased a replacement battery to remedy a swollen battery on my MacBook. It booted up after the install, but will not boot anymore and makes a faint beep and blinks an indicator light after the ac adapter is plugged in. I have tried remedies I have found online such as resetting the SMP by pressing and holding the power button for 5ish seconds, but to no avail. Any thoughts?

Answer this question I have this problem too

Tell us about this beep. Is it just a single beep or more than one? Does it repeat?

by

After further investigation I don't think it is a beep. The sleep light blinks repeatedly without any breaks. The sound it is making almost sounds like it is trying to spin up the hard drive for boot, then dies out, and repeat

If the SIL of a MacBook flashes five times when starting up or after waking from sleep, and the pattern repeats after a brief pause, the computer's battery may require service.

@ajcooke01v2 I have also noted that. Maybe a notice on Meta would be apropos

there is no noticeable pause to suggest one of the available troubleshooting codes from apple. When i take the battery out, I am able to get it to boot through a process of steps. I would agree that the battery needs service, but it is not acting in a way that has been, in my opinion, previously identified by apple or other forums

The connector on the MagSafe shows a steady Green. When using the battery level indicator it flashes all the lights rapidly, a handful of times

The blinking battery checker is telling us the SMC thinks the battery is bad. Lets disconnect the battery and hold the power button a good 30 seconds to reset SMC and see if the battery checker is still blinking. If it is the battery you got is bad.

I held the power button without the battery in for at least 30 seconds before putting it back in and reconnecting the power supply. At this time, the mad charger light is green, the white light is blinking on the front of the MacBook and the battery indicator, when pushed, rapidly flashes on the lowest level indicator

Bad replacement battery and it also sounds like the charging logic needs some repairs.

by

What do you mean by the charging logic needs some repairs? How can I remedy that so that it works with a replacement battery?
