can the sound out assembly be fixed on the touch 2gen

jimmy, if you are sure your headphones are okay and if you have tried a restore (back up all your stuff first) and if neither is resolving the issue, I would think you need a new audio jack. The part is available here and here. Check youtube for an instructional video. Good Luck
