Charging Port Is Broken!

So on the bottom of any ipod (im pretty sure)there is what you would call a charging port.Thats basically where the usb cable goes. And well mine is kinda broken. Some of the little prongs(i guess you would call it)are either broken or bent. Due to that, my ipod cant be charged or updated and anything that includes the usb cable. Please help i dont know how to fix it! thanks

I've had no functional problems with this. Everything hooked up fine. I am running Windows 8.1 and have had no issues. It works like a charm.

bella, that is the dock connector. You will have to replace it in order to get your iPod back to normal function. It is an interesting job to say the least. You have to remove the logic board and then desolder the connector. The dock connectors are available at multiple places like this Then you have to resolder the new one. here is a video that shows you how to do it. Good Luck.

Just to add to what oldturkey said, I would recommend buying a fine tip for your soldering iron (not too fine) and definitely invest in some solder flux as well as thin solder wire. Great weekend project, good luck!

All you do is plug it into the charger.. Turn it off.. wait a hour or so.. should charge but you cant connect it to the computer that way, if it is dead plug it in, it will turn on automatically and then turn it off. Hope this helps x

Get a universal charger if the port is no longer working or damaged http://hpanswers.blogspot.com/2013/07/ge...

Read the question :"Some of the little prongs(i guess you would call it)are either broken or bent." Your idea definitely does not work. Are you even remotely aware of the multifunction for the dock connector?
