iPhone won't charge and fries replacement dock connectors; any ideas?
The phone was dropped in sea water and quickly immersed in rubbing alcohol. Following a good dry, the iphone started up and worked until the battery was drained. The iphone would not take a charge. I replaced the battery and the dock connector and the phone came back to life. It was recognized by my computer and would charge for moments at a time but eventually was no longer recognized by the computer and would no longer take a charge. I'm pretty sure the dock connector fried again.
Is this a good question?
Did you immerse the entire phone? Or did you disassemble and clean? Have you checked USB cord/port are clean and undamaged? Tried dif pc or cord?

Entire phone immersed - I was without tools and knew the longer salt water was corroding components, the worse things would get. I have since diassembled and cleaned well. USB port is the dock connector which has been replaced. I tried charging with multiple cords and tried both a wall outlet and two separate PCs.

have you tested your battery to see whether it still has a charge? if the battery is too flat it won't charge at all.. have you also tried testing the dock connector with a multimeter? I've a 3gs which has had to have the dock replaced twice..seems is it was shorted out by a bose docking station! now that is sorted the dock has been fine for months.
