I replaced my SuperDrive with an OptiBay, but now I can't find the screws to hold the 2.5" HDD into the OptiBay drive sled. Are these the same as any other laptop HDD screw?

According to which OptiBay adapter you got, it may not need the screws. Actually I've seen three machines come in that I had to remove the screws from the bottom because they were oversized and preventing the machine from closing properly. These have all been the Unibody models. So its according to how tight the fit is and which machine you're working on. Some, I've just used electrical or kapton tape to hold in place. Where are the screw holes in your adapter?

Good question, I don't remember exactly, but I seem to recall them lining up with several holes in the bottom of the HDD. The HDD has been bumped out of alignment before and I've had to open the case and re-seat it. Unfortunately, I lost my jewelers screwdrivers along the way, so I'm waiting for a new set to show up.

You know, I should have read that differently. These are the holes in the bottom of the HDD.
The Optical bay adapter (from iFixit) has two sets of screws in a separate package that you may have overlooked. I got one in today and was very pleased to find that they were completely recessed on the bottom and added nothing to the height. I was able to add a 12 mm hard drive to a 15" MBP pre-unibody that's not supposed to be able to take it.
I ended up doing something similar - I used some low profile laptop hard drive screws from a local businesses IT department. Thanks for your information and the help.
