Missing screwhole on new back

I bought the new back to the iPhone3GS and am trying to replaced the old one. I noticed when installed the replacement parts in the new back that there is no screwhole for the spacer that allows you to remove the sim card. I noticed there was a note that says there may not be a new screw hole in the repair manual for the spacer, but if that is the case, how i do put the spacer back in? Any help would be much appreciated.

you can place the "flipper" where it should go and then just try to force screw it in, use the smallest drill bit you own and start it off first. (the screw is tiny) others have used a heated needle to make a small hole..

I have the same problem. My new 3GS back has a hole but it is not threaded. How do I get the screw in. Is the sim spacer necessary?

-Thanks
