LG 42LA6130 won't turn on

Hi everyone,

I recently purchased the TV mentioned in the subject - it’s not brand new, but it hasn’t been used that much. Last night I used it with HDMI and watched something for a couple of hours, however I’ve turned it on again and while I was watching, the screen went blank but the sound from the TV remained. After I unplugged the HDMI, I turned it off and it never went back On.

It blinks the red light 2 times, which I’ve read on a couple of threads that it might mean old or damaged circuits. Does this mean that if I unplug it from the power cord and wait for some time, turn it On again, will not resolve the issue from happening again? I am very new to this, however my technical skills are on point, but I don’t feel confident enough opening the back case and changing something.

Could you advise on what I should do? Thanks!

It sounds like the back light lost power and afterwards the tv wouldn’t turn back on again due to whatever caused the back light to lose power. Given the symptoms, I would suspect part of the power board has gone out that supplies a voltage used by the back light. Start with visual inspection of the power board for bad components or bad solder connections.
