Why is my fridgidaire dishwasher staying on wash cycle?

I have a fridgidaire dishwasher #LGBD2431NFOB that stays on wash cycle. Replaced thermostat, door latch, water inlet valve and mother board. The soap dispensor will not open, elemt not hot, drain pump working ok, it's spraying water. Did notice the air dry and high temp wash lights blinking after flipping breaker switch on.

Hi @creiter2 ,

Check on the inside of the front panel to see if there is the service data sheet for the dishwasher.

If it is there, hopefully it will tell you how to get into the 'diagnostic mode" and if so, what the results mean.

Ok. There a sheet of paper there, so I will look.

Thanks

Ran service test, and after it was done i opened door and closed it then the air dry and high temp wash lights were flashing. This indicates a power failure has occured. Everything (dispenser, heating element, etc) worked during test.

Hi @creiter2 ,

Did you try to reset the dishwasher after you ran the diagnostic mode by disconnecting the power for at least 5 minutes?

Just ran diagnostic mode, shut of power for 5+ minutes, switched power on and air dry and high temp wash light came on again.

DISHWASHER FAULTY TIMER SWITCH REPAIR

The #1 Problem with Dishwashers

A faulty timer switch is often the cause of dishwasher breakdown. This very important switch is basically the brains of the machine, controlling various wash cycles, while automatically regulating the length of time for each cycle used.

How do I know if it's a faulty timer switch:

  1. Machine will not turn on (circuit breaker and fuses are okay).
  2. Machine runs through one or more cycles, then stops.
  3. Machine continues to operate on one cycle and will not switch to the next one.

Timer Switch for Kitchen Dishwasher

Don't worry, "Dishwasher timer switch replacement" is a fairly simple task.First, check the dishwashers make and model number. Buy a proper replacement switch from a local dealer.

You will see that the timer switch has a number of wires running to and from it. Reconnecting them will be much easier if (before you remove the switch) you draw a diagram or label the wires so you are certain where each will reattach to the new switch assembly.

For problems that appear NOT to be related to the timer switch or cannot be solved by the simple repairs mentioned, it is probably time to give a service person a call.

No timer? Then it's controlled by the main board:

Water was not hot enough going into dishwasher. Cranked up water heater a little and cycles fine.

Hi @creiter2 ,

Glad that you got it fixed but I'm now wondering if your "fix" is actually masking the real problem.

If the dishwasher was working OK before, why have you suddenly had to increase the hot water heater temperature to make the dishwasher work OK again?

Perhaps there was (is?) a problem with the hot water heater's thermostat operating before the set temperature is reached or for example, if it is due to a lowering of the ambient air temperature, (getting colder due to the onset of winter), is there a problem with the lagging on the hot water supply piping to the dishwasher (if it is a long distance from the heater) or the hot water piping in general from the hot water heater allowing too much heat to "escape" from the water in the pipes?

Just something else to consider.

Merry Christmas ;-)
