Replacement digitizer has rigid flex cable not allowing seating

Replaced cracked digitizer only, not LDC. All went fine and works prior to adhesion. But when I try to seat the digitizer on the frame where the ribbon cable reaches onto the board, the ribbon cables are so rigid I cannot seat the digitizer.

The cabling looks different than my original and part of it has adhesive tape, but I cannot tell where it should be stuck??? I thought the rear of the LCD but it pivots Portrait and the digitizer pivots landscape, so I wouldn’t be able to connect the cables.

Here is a picture of how the flex is supposed to be “taped” back to the digitizer prior to installation:
