After replacing battery, It doesn’t work!

Replaced the battery last night, then it didnt work

  1. can not open mac without the adaptor
  2. as soon as i plug the adaptor, it reboot automatically???? Is this normal??
  3. checked the coconut : poor status, no charging
  4. check the system: no charging, need to be replaced now
  5. replace the old/original battery back, it works fine: good status, charging, ect.
  6. [BTW, BUT ALSO AS SOON AS I PLUG THE ADAPTOR, IT REBOOT AUTOMATICALLY?????? WHY]
  7. Now im using the new battery right, hope to find answers….
  8. already tried everything, like NVRAM and SMC reset
  9. already tried to charge the battery for hours……didnt work neither

And I’m not sure if I would use the old battery back….. it’s swelling and doesn’t look safe now…..

It seems you just got a bad battery, it can happen, ask for replacement including Coconut battery screenshot. A bad battery can cause issues such as the reboot, I wouldn’t worry about that for now. Coconut and the system have different reporting, that’s normal too..system gives green light and shows 100% when Coconut still shows charging is taking place.

So now I’m basically giving up and wanna change the old one back..

Just not sure is it safe or no....

@gemeny I was gonna answer yes, not a problem, but then I saw the pictures. No way, dispose of it properly but don't put it back at work, it might be dangerous for your Mac and for you too, it is likely it's exhaling unpleasant and unhealthy gas. You can run your Mac without a battery though if you need to.

!!!!. I’m using it right now , i need to do the homework and write code, it will be super slow...

unplugging the battery and mag-safe then reconnecting will cause a spontaneous reboot.

an update...after replacing a second battery from ifixit, it works now
