Screen black, but connectable to iTunes

hi there

after a wet experience and some sort of trying it out the device is still connectable and viewable to iTunes. The screen stays black - after having some white noise before.

But, when I press the home button, I see in the dismantled front from the side, that a light goes on for some seconds. Might this be the background light and the LCD is defect, or the other way round or ….

Thanks in advance for any hint

If you’re phone got wet, then you most likely have a damaged LCD driver circuit on the logic board. Ideally, this phone should be properly decontaminated and then troubleshooted. Remove the logic board and soak it in >90% IPA and then let it air dry for a day. Brush away (in IPA) any visible water residues or mineral deposits.

Water can also affect the screen itself so at some point, you will need to try a known-good replacement screen to see if that solves the problem. If it doesn’t then you will know the issue is on the logic board.

Thank you for the information, @refectio - very appreciated

I am going to try that, but it would take some time and therefore a reply will stand out a bit…
