How do I get rid of the red x on my iPod?

i was riding my longboard and i fell and landed on the ipod. The click wheel got knocked in because i wrapped the earphones around the ipod and when I landed it pushed the wheel in. It was ok until when i tried to play a song it jammed so i restarted it by holding the menu and enter button on the ipod and when it rebooted a red x came up and says to go to www.apple.com/support/ipod. i went there and it didnt help at all. I also tried reseting the ipod but it wont show on the computer. I read that if you hit it against the table that the harddrive needle will skip back but it did nothing. Please help however you can

ThankYou,

Ian Blake

My suggestion would be for you to take your iPod apart following this Guide and evaluate the damage. It could be something simple like a loose connection of the ribbon cable or as complex as a new logic board due to the click wheel pressing on the board. Check your hard drive since that is usually what creates the red X error. Hope you get it going again and let us know what you find. Good Luck.
