My fan is louder than normal

I’m used to my mac’s fan to be pretty loud from my games (the Sims, any game on steam, etc.) but lately it has been much louder. Occasionally, I’m also hearing a barely audible clicking from the top right side of the keyboard while I’m doing schoolwork. It also is slightly warm there too.

Keep in mind, the fans are only loud when I’m playing games (and I’m used to it normally) but now I’m hearing it from across the room.

The clicking is only occasionally and is slightly resolved when I press on it, though happens again eventually.

Should I replace it?

Sounds like your fan is about to go kaput. Time to replace it!

You will need to re-apply thermal paste. I included links to replacement thermal paste and a guide to re-apply the thermal paste.
