The counter has some defect and starts making the clicking sound.

I also have this problem when the counter gets to a certain count on the 100’s cog. The counter has some defect and starts making the clicking sound. It also stops advancing the counter. I just press the reset button on the counter and the clicking noise goes away until it counts back up to that troubled spot.

Answer this question I have this problem too

Hi,

If you wish to replace the tape counter, here’s a link to the service manual for the cassette recorder.

To download the file, when the sentence below the Document preview box changes from This file is downloadable free of charge: …processing… to This file is downloadable free of charge: Download, click on Download as this is the link. Be patient it takes a little while to find the file.

Besides showing an exploded view of the mechanism, if you scroll to p.11 you’ll find the part number for the tape counter. part 163, part number RDC0002.

This is the only supplier of the part that I could find. You’ll have to email them regarding the cost of the part. The part is on the page but a long way down ;-)

You may have better luck in finding other suppliers. Just search online for Panasonic RDC0002

Hopefully this is of some interest to you
