The battery I've just got is behaving strangely

Hi there,

a couple of weeks ago I’ve purchased a battery for my Mac from iFixit EU store (Order No. 355170). Installed and checked it, everything seems to work just fine, but after few days I’ve realized a strange behavior.

The battery goes down from 100% to 40-30% as expected then it suddenly jump to 7-6%. But even stranger, the Mac keep working for at least another 30-40 min while the battery keep showing 6%. The bad side of this scenario is that when the battery is at 6% the MacOs detect the “battery low” status therefore the Mac became slow as a sloth.

I’ve reset PRAM and SMC but nothing changed. From the coconutBattery utility battery health seems fine so, I don’t know what to do.

Any idea?

Best

Initially a battery might be needing a few charging cycles for the system to record and adjust information on battery levels, but in no case it should slowdown performance. You may try using it 3/4 more charging cycles letting battery drain until the Mac goes to stop before plugging the charger back. If things don’t get back to normal, contact customer service and ask for a replacement of the faulty battery.
