Just a handful of keys not working (MBP keyboard)

Hi! A few keys on my macbook aren’t working (including the J, K, L keys). I suspect it’s not a mechanical issue as they work when I’m logged into a guest account but not when I’m logged into my own account. If an external keyboard is plugged in, all the keys on the external keyboard work. The keys also work when I’m entering the user password for my account, which contains a K. I’ve tried a PRAM reset and an SMC reset. What should I try next? Thanks!

@ianthewolf Have you tried a clean install of macOS? be sure to back up your files if you have not and try this.

Hi Aaron, thanks! I have a backup so this is definitely a last resort I'll consider trying, though if there's anything else I can do first, obviously I'd prefer it :)

Did you install a key remaper app? As an example Resurrecting the MacBook's number pad

I would try deleting the keyboard import source and re-installing it when you’ve got the USB keyboard active. Thats the keyboard control panel in your preferences and under ‘Input Sources’
