Replacing lid/display assembly enclosure only

I have managed to dent the corners of the top lid of my MacBook (the corners nearest the hinges of the display assembly). However, the display itself and bezels are all fine.

I was wondering if it’s possible to replace only the lid/display enclosure itself and not the LCD & bezels? If it is, how tricky is it going to be removing the LCD & bezels from the enclosure and into a replacement?

Retina screens are 1mm thick and glued to the frame. Chances are 99.9% you’ll break it in the process.

While you could swap out the lid assembly (still a bit of work) taking the display apart won’t be that easy and you also won’t find the case part as Apple only offers it as an assembly to their service centers.

Not exactly the same, the newer model the procedure is about the same Retina MacBook 2017 Display Assembly Replacement

Bare lids with backlight sheets, even in good conditions, can be found on eBay by dozens, that's not the problem.

Are you sure?? I've only seen the MBP retina models. Even still getting the LCD out of the old case will likely damage it. Just easier to replace the whole lid.

@danj Of course, you can find both retina panels alone and bare screens for sale, but is seems we agree that it won't help much in this case. So far, despite quite a few attempts, I haven't been able to remove a retina screen without a break.
