Sony TV image rough, missing color depth and pixelation

My old Sony Bravia KDL-46V3000 TV suddenly started showing a picture that is quite a bit off. I don’t really know how to describe it. My best effort would be: rough edges, missing color depth and pixelation. But a picture says more than a thousand words. This is what the normally nicely faded background on the PS4 looks like (connected through HDMI):

This is part of a Chromecast image (also connected through HDMI):

I have searched quite a bit online and think it may be the t-con board that has a defect. Before ordering a new one I’d like some expert opinion. Does anybody know what might be the cause and how I might resolve this problem?

Answer this question I have this problem too

Is this a good question?

your images are a bit to close to get a feel for the look on the whole panel. It appears that this is a solarization which could be caused by the T-con board as well as the main board. Of course, check all the wiring and try all the different video in sources as well. We would need to look at your boards. If you can, remove the back of your TV and post some images of your boards with your question.

Thanks for the reply! Opening up the TV is not an option for at least another week (kids have holiday), but I'll do it right after. I'll check the other video sources first.
