My phone shorted out when I plugged it in to an outlet.

I plugged my iphone 3G 8GIG in to my home outlet and sparks came from the outlet. There after the phone shutdown and have not been able to turn it on. I've tried holding the home and power buttons together, but nothing. Also I switched the power cords and no luck.
