AirPort/Bluetooth cable on fire

Hi to everybody!!! I have a problem with the wifi.. same weeks ago, my MBP 13” 2011 wasn’t unable to resume after stop.. the only way to wake up it was to unplug the battery, press for 10 sec the power button and, than, plug it again. After pressing the power button (the back cover was removed), the AirPort/Bluetooth cable was in fire!!! So, first of all, I changed the cable without success… then, I changed also the AirPort/Bluetooth board: now, the bluetooth works again but, for the wifi, it is still in “no hardware found“… I have tried also the network diagnostics but it crash!!! what I can do???

Answer this question I have this problem too

Is this a good question?

Wow! that was a hot site you were visiting ;-}

Sorry guy you have a deeper problem on your main logic board power services. It sounds like you had a short in the cable which is why it got very warm to the point of ignition!

The electrical pathways between the AirPort board and the logic board needs to be traced out (continuity) and then the logic board header’s lines will need to be checked from the schematics & board views to locate the failure from that side. ITs a bit of work and you’ll likely need a few components.

Thanks for your reply!

Please pay attention: I've talked about fire, flames, not very warm!!!!The fire point was located to the middle of the cable and I've turned it off by removing the battery connector an blowing on...

Now, with a new one, the Bluetooth works correctly: so, I don't think that it is a power source problem on the motherboard point of view because, otherwise, also the new one would have caught fire too.. only the wifi part doesn't work.

I get it FIRE! Which is what Ignition is!

A cable which ignites only does so when the voltage between two lines cross (a short) ground and a voltage source. Often times the short will effect other components in the pathway hence you need to trace things out. You'll need to get schematics and board view drawings to help you follow the pathways.

As to the power: Your AirPort board has more than one power service. So we know the Bluetooth side is good as it's working.

Fire ? who could think SMC was there for a reason besides being bypassed ? :P
