Need some help with a TV repair from an expert

So my boss gave me his JVC EM50RF to repair. There was a bad storm and when there was a big lightning strike his TV shut off and would not turn back on after. I told him he is better off just buying a new TV but he claims this TV has “sentimental value” and insists I try.

When I opened up the TV I inspected the boards and could not see any overt damage so I took the logical next step of ordering another power supply board but that didn’t fix it. I wanted to know how likely it is that the main board before I go through the trouble of ordering it?

Is there any way to test these boards at home to know conclusively that the issue is there?

And just out of curiosity does anyone know what the average TV repair shop would charge for this kind of work? I just want to know how much of a favor I am providing.

Thanks!

Answer this question I have this problem too

Is this a good question?

did you try a new power cable? most cables are fused in Australia (and I presume the rest of the world) it may be that this fuse is blown and saved the tv.

Yes, the first thing I tried was a different cable and I don’t believe it was fused.
