Replacement Screen Help please

Hi All,

I have a late 2012 iMac with a cracked screen.

I’ve been searching eBay for a replacement and there seems to be a bunch of different options.

Question is: Can’t I use any “used” 27” screen I can find, or does each year have a specific screen that must be used?

Screen P/N is LM270WQ1 SD F1

Answer this question I have this problem too

Is this a good question?

Apple uses a few different screens so you can’t just throw anything in. You’ll need to focus on A1419 Late 2012 to Late 2013 screens - Apple P/N’s 661-7169 (Late 2012) or 661-7885 (Late 2013) LG screen - LM270WQ1 SD F1

Each year does have a specific screen assembly that will only work with a specific EMC. Reason being is that the display cable connectors are vastly different.

For example I have two iMacs, one is a 2009 Core 2 Duo, another one is a 2010 Core i3.

This iMac is the display data cable for my 2009 Core 2 Duo iMac (view original image for a better view)

Now this is my Core i3 iMac

As you can see these have vastly different connectors therefore making them non interchangeable. Hope this answers your question. You can get the proper screen for your iMac here
