Zoom not working - button pressed but no zoom

Hi,

anyone know what is wrong with this camera? I have a S8650 and the camera will not zoom. I press the zoom button and nothing works. If i press the zoom button to zoom out the zoom icon comes on the screen (already max zoom out range) but i cannot zoom in!!

not sure what is wrong?

is there any sound at all? ie is the motor trying or there is no sound.
