Use iPad Internal Speakers as External Speakers for Other Devices

I’m trying to connect a media player directly to an iPad’s internal speakers - has anyone done this before? Are they amplified? Help? Is this even possible?

I have model numbers 1416, 1458, 1822 & 1893 to pull the speakers from.

The iPad speakers are just that….speakers. They are passive devices that need to be “driven” by an amplifier.

The A1416 (iPad 3) uses a MAX98304 Amplifier IC. Check out the datasheet.

The A1458 (iPad 4) uses an Apple custom IC (CS35L19B) so we don’t have the exact specs. However, this is a Cirrus Logic designed IC and you can probably get a good idea of the internals by looking at the CS35L32.

The A1822 (iPad 5) & A1893 (iPad) 6 have no publicly available schematics so I can’t say for certain but the ones I have seen are very similar to the iPad Air in design.
