Why wont my MacBook boot up.

I turn on my macbook and it comes on with the apple logo but then a darker shade of grey pops up with the power on logo over the apple sign what can i do how do i fix i mean i have no warranty please i need some help thanks.

Sound like a kernel panic to me. Start up from your system installation disk by inserting the disk and restarting holding down the "C" key. Go to the second screen pull down menu to Utilities > Disk Utility. Select your hard drive on the left and run the repair till there are no errors. Let us know if this solves the problem.

I already did that did not work keeps tell me to type mac-boot but it gose right back to restart
