What type (model) of micro USB is this?

I’ve been searching all over the internet (including on here) for an answer but couldn’t find anything specific.

I’m fixing a Chinese tablet for a friend. I removed the micro USB charging port from the mobo but I’m confused as to what micro USB model I need to replace it with.

It comes from a Mediatek 10.1 Android tablet.

My questions are:

1) Can someone identify the micro USB model I need from the pictures?

2) Can I replace it with pretty much any micro USB port just as long as it’s type b 5 pin port that fits, whether universal or branded?

I’ve been in the computer business for many years but working on PCBs is something fairly new to me.

Thanks in advance!

It looks to me like a pretty standard microUSB socket except that the contacts look a mess. The problem you may have is finding a replacement with the same fixing tabs. But so long as you can solder a couple of them then you can always strengthen it by plastering it with epoxy glue - these micro USB sockets can pull away from the board quite easily with a bit of rough handling. Make sure you first cover any holes in the shell with tape to prevent the glue getting inside.

The other problem is that the pitch of the contacts is extremely fine, and soldering the replacement will be pretty challenging if you’re not used to this sort of work, and requiring a binocular microscope and good microsoldering tools and skills if any of the tracks have lifted from the PCB. I was recently faced with such a problem and concluded it was beyond me, despite 60 years of soldering!

Thanks for the feedback Philip! It’s much appreciated.

I removed it with a rework station, using a small nozzle, being careful. The tracks look good but they will need cleaning (see pic).

I recently bought a binocular microscope and good soldering tools. Looks like I’ll also need some type of vise to hold the board in place. I have the tools but no skills yet though I have plenty of time. It’s more of a hobby.

I guess I’ll go through the usual online stores and look for a micro USB port that looks the closest to the one I’ve got.
