How do you replace the microphone.

My Evo was working great, until about a month ago. Everyone says it sounds like I am far away from my phone when I am talking. After some reasearch I found others are have the same problem. I found a web site that sells the microphone. I just dont know how to Take the old one off. There are four contacts on the new mic, but I don't see anything on the back of the board to solder. Thanks for all your help.

where did you find a place sells mic for EVO?

by

I found it on website, my problem was finding someone to replace it. I ended up sending it to a place in TX called dr cell phone. They charged 50 for part and labor, did great work and have fast turn around time. But here is that website that sells the mic. http://www.phonerepairparts.com/htc-evo-... Hope it helps.

the microphone is a surface mount component, to take the original off you need a hot air gun and alot of skill. Unfortionatley its not something that can be easily done.

Pay the 7 dollars per month for the insurance next time. Same crap happened to my evo and rather than have to unRoot the device and leave it at a sprint store for repairs I chose to call Asurion (the insurance co) and report the device lost. I payed them the 100 dollar deductable and they sent me another EVO. Now I have a working evo and an evo with a dead mic. The upside to that is: A) now I have a test device for modified ROMs. I try stuff on it before I play with my daily driver. B) I now have 2 batteries. C) The broken evo makes a nice battery charger for me to use. That way I can charge a battery and not have to be plugged in while I talk. D) The broken evo still has fully functional Andriod Market, Apps, and internet when connected via WIFI.

The microphone is on the bottom of the phone next to the Micro-USB port. The little hole. Are you using a phone case? That might be covering it, or maybe it is clogged with gunk. I wouldn't stick anything in there to clean it though.... maybe a can of air duster.

I used the source provided by first post to buy some HTC EVO 4g mic before, kinda slow shipping but it came and I used it.

Now I need to order again, went back their site, but it's now all changed and they are charging $15 for 3 mics (less than 1oz total).

Plus they changed their website and company name and I don't even know if I was right place or not. I need to find another source for this part.
