iPod A1238 6th classic will not recognize hardware or device on usb?

Ipod cherges but is not seen in itunes or pc and will not get proper device info at usb ports. basically fails at usb port. Is it a board issue or port issue. Again it charges and holds charge but no usb recognition. Verified everything in diagnostics as good goes o disk mode but no joy passing usb detection. please help.

Chris, at first I change the USB cable and see if that makes any difference. Also try a different USB port on your computer or someone elses to see if it being recognized. Clean the dock connector as well. There is a lot of dirt and lint that can get trapped in it Check for bend pins, the best way of course is with a magnifying source of some kind. If after you tried the before mentioned steps, and it still does not work, I would think that you have a logic board issue. If it charges through the USB port but is not being recognized, you would have issue with the data pins of the connector. Good Luck and hope you get it fixed.
