Will not boot and screen is multicolored

My macbook will no longer boot, after each attempt, the screen is not solid gray, but also has white/pink/purple artifacts and displays a notice to shut down by holding the power butten, and then restart. Never get passed that. Same result using the boot from recovery CD.

The graphic card on your logic board seems to be faulty. Call Apple, give them your MBP serial number et they'll tell you if your unit may be repaired free of charge via their special repair program for the Nvidia graphic cards issues.

You are correct. Took it to the Apple store genius bar and they had a special diagnostic that confirmed it was a model that was covered (in or out of warranty) by nVidia. Should received it back this week with a "Rev 2" motherboard that shouldn't exhibit the defect.

Thanks.
