Old LG tv screen flickers on and off when trying to power the tv off

Hello!

**the tv I have is not the one noted on this post, the website is just making me pick one to post. Actual model number is 42LG50***

My old ~10 year old LG flatscreen has started to have a problem after so many years and two moves. Whenever I go to turn it on or turn it off it will either take a long time to turn fully on or off (screen flickers on and off for a good 5+ minutes). But the rest of the time it works perfectly! The tv for some reason just doesn’t want to turn on or off correctly. Sometimes when I turn it off it looks like it off but one minute later it’ll turn itself on again. I don’t know if this is the age of the tv or the fact that it’s moved a lot in the past couple of years or maybe even the fact that I have a chrome cast connected to it.

Has anyone else experienced this?

this could be an issues with the power board or the main board as well as some loose ribbon cables. You do want to go ahead and remove the back of your TV. Check the boards for obvious damage like bulging or leaking capacitors etc. Post some good pictures of your boards with your question so that we can see what you see. Use this guide Adding images to an existing question for that. Also, let us know what exact model your TV is.
