Where should I solder the wireless coil wires?

My Apple Watch wireless charging coil connection is detach from the S1 board and I do know the connection. Can someone advise me where should I solder the wire? I can’t identify the positive and negative of the pad.

I’m not an expert with the Apple Watch but if the charging coil is “just a coil”, then it won’t matter which orientation as it will create an inductive field either way.

While I agree a coil is not polarized I do wonder why one of the wires is colored Red. The few units I did fix had the full bottom unit come off. It appears only the coil came off in yours. You may want to just get the assembly and replace the full part. While more work its more likely to work.

@danj If there is any other circuitry inside, then yes polarity will be important. I'm just going on what I can see. Looking at the third picture of Step 20 of this Teardown guide, both wires look black.

You'll need the smallest tip you can find, like 0.2mm (smaller is better). Any standard paste flux will work fine.

Thanks @refectio . To clarify again, should I buy solder paste or solder flux? How to clear the surface before soldering?

by

@danj is there any wires falling off on the units that you fixed before?
