I can't separate the screen from the device without destroying the lcd

I’m using heat and prying the screen out of the phone with the special very thin metal sheet and I am halfway through but tested the screen and 70% of the screen is completely black and dead. This lcd was already trash and I’m trying to salvage another s7 edge’s screen, but I can’t even take it off without destroying it. Please help! I am so frustrated, I cannot take it off and still have it work.

Answer this question I have this problem too

These displays are obnoxiously hard to get off, I have tried this too and I completely wrecked the display. My suggestion is to just buy a new display as these displays are next to impossible to get off in one piece.

Yea dont even bother honestly. They are the worst. Aaron is 100% correct. Just replace the LCD assembly

Why is the LCD being separated from a frame? You just simply transfer the logic boards over instead, unless the parts are incompatible after testing them?

I'm trying to do glass replacement only. I need to take it off anyway.

After conferring with some of my friends who have done this similar repair I have come to the conclusion that it is just better off if you get a new display assembly and slap that on instead of trying to do a next-to-impossible screen transfer. That way you can hack away at that old display and just slap on a new one with no consequences. iFixit sells a display assembly for this phone too and I have provided a link below to that part.

Tl;DR: Just buy a new display assembly because these displays are impossible to get off in one piece.

The “fix kit” is out of stock but you can buy just the assembly and nothing else.

Yeah glass only replacement never leaves a good finish unless you use the proper refurbishing machinery to do it properly.

@benjamen50 I think just replacing the whole assembly is just a better option because it saves frustration and time.

Thanks, but I'm not gonna spend $300. Also it doesn't answer my question, I didn't ask for alternatives. I am fully aware that this is very very challenging, you don't need to tell me that.

@gracetheartist I have no solution for you then. Good luck hacking away at that display then. You can try using a hair dryer to soften the adhesive but that’s all.
