MBP fails to boot & Powers off before chime!

Hi,

My MBP Unibody from late 2008 has exactly the same problem.

Last Oct/Nov (2010) I got a "off-warranty" repair paid by Apple where they exchanged the logic board, hard drive, hard drive connector, and the super drive after an issue with a swollen battery.

And now this... :(

Please start an new question. List the last three letters of your serial number. List it it's making any beeps, how far it gets in the boot process and if you are having any scrambled screen colors.

Can you boot up into target disk mode or single user mode? Thus can you verify the disk in any way? Have you tried a PRAM reset?

Options

Remove your battery and AC adapter. Then hold down the start button for 10 seconds. Plug the adapter back in and give it a try, Next try starting up holding down the option- command - P - R -keys and restart, wait for three tones then release.
