G4 cannot charge or detect battery

My G4 (Early 2004) says the battery is not installed and so it doesn't charge. If however I charge one of the two batteries on a firends G4 my system will then run off the battery. I heard it maybe a DC In Board problem so ordered the part, what do you think?

I think you jumped the gun, usually I try to find out the problem before ordering parts. Download and run Coconut Battery to see if we can determine the problem. Also please give the last three figures of your serial number so we know which iBook you have. http://www.coconut-flavour.com/coconutba...

The battery has ni lights showing but the charger light is showing green, system profile now says a battery is installed but its not charging.

I cannot find the serial but the model says A1054

Please use a multimeter and test the output of the battery connector in the battery compartment, (it's part of the logic board).
