Mario not sure what you mean that it does not connect. so the drive works in one model but not the other. Of course that means that your drive is okay, but did you change the HDD cable as well. I did find that those are getting internal fracture after a while. Also, make sure that the cable is properly seated and is straight in the connector. If the cable and connectors are properly checked and not at fault, it is time to think about getting a new logic board. Good Luck.

the weird thing is that when i first put the drive in, my computer read it and i did a reformat because it would not restore and it worked(went through all menus) but then it wouldn't sync to my computer so i did another reformat and then it wouldn't work. it would connect then disconnect right away but when i put it in another ipod it restored fine and even loaded a song, but still won't work in the other ipod

Mario, I had a bad click wheel and a bad HDD cable freeze my HDD. It took me a while to fine that problem since my drive worked when I had it on my USB-t0-Zif connector. Check your cables etc....:-)

ok so i hooked up my ipod to another computer (i have ibook g4 133ghz OSX 10.5.8)other computer is macbook running snow leopard the ipod sync with i tune but when i tried to restore it kept getting an error so i tried disk utility to restore the disk and it still got an error and now it wont show on that computer either

Mario, where did you get the drive from? was it a reliable source? I still think the best way to determine if it is your ipod vs HDD is to get a ZIF cable to hook it up as an external drive.
