Whats the purpose of 2 IC chips located on Lightning flex?

Hi there, ive got into quite awkward situation here. Got iPhone 7 for repair and had to change Docking Flex connector as lightning port had 2 pins missing. After ordering several times from different suppliers required part ive realised that they had different amounts of smd soldered on them. Attaching some pics

As far as I know, we don’t have any schematics available for the Lightning flex.

Image 1: I don’t know what this IC does.

Image 2: Hoo boy, that’s a sloppy looking flex. The passives (resistors?) don’t even seem to be properly soldered on or barely making contact with the pads. These are inline with the connector pins; I’d be surprised if this flex worked at all.

Image 3: This looks better, these passives are involved in the microphone circuit.
