Spilled sugary drink all over keyboard. Boots, but keyboard dosnt work

the person that owned it got a pretty good break thanks to her isurance company. I go to play around with the corpse.

It boots. trackpad and mouse acts irratic as if someone is pressing down the CTRL-key. then at one point it asked me if i wanted to turn off the &#^@ thing and then it did so itself as if someones pushing down long on the power button.

Its a pretty goood laptop and I only have an ibook so it would be a neat upgrade for me.

should i go for the whole nine yards and get a used top case with trackpad, keyboard etc? or just try a new keyboard?

Btw if i buy a keyboard with the same layout as in the UK the only difference i can see is the size of the "enter key" and then move around all the letters so they match a swedish keyboard and change the settings in the computer, this would work right?

Right now i'm doing a snow leopard install on a FW disk to boot the thing from.

Plug in an external keyboard and mouse to test if it's just the top case. Is it booting from the internal optical drive?
