battery not charging after 1st replacement

Hello,

I own a Macbook Pro 13” Retina from Early 2015 that has been troubling me with battery issues. I recently replaced a dead battery (confirmed the need by Apple Genius) using the ifixit.com replacement kit and was doing well for 2-3 weeks until today when I got the same notification that my battery isn’t charging and needs to be replaced.

So far, I have reset SMC and I have re-opened the laptop to remove and replug the battery back in. The AC Adapter is lighting orange and without it plugged to the laptop, it dies. I am confused as to whether the battery is faulty or if there is some sort of disconnect between the AC power and the replacement battery. Also, can this just be fixed if I get another replacement battery?

Any input would be much appreciated. Thanks!

I've forwarded your issue to the IFIXIT Store folks. Given the holiday weekend (Labor Day) they will likely be in touch with you Tuesday next week as the soonest.

Not an expert at this but if the battery is not 100% genuine it’s probably faulty. The fact that the kit is from iFixit should mean it’s a high quality part and it shouldn’t be failing, so it might be a good idea to talk with customer support about a new battery. If anyone else with a higher expertise would like to chime in and suggest you might want to disregard this post and listen to them.
