iPhone dead after opening.

Hi,

I just successfully changed my rear-panel and a cracked mute button. However, when I was done my touch screen and home button weren't working. I tried to shut down the phone so I could open it up again and fix the cables. But I couldn't shut it, hence my screen/home button wasn't working. I searched a lot on google but couldn't find any software which could shut it down.

So when the phone was still on I opened it,

I could see one cable wasn't in it's place. I fixed it and closed the phone.

Now my iPhone won't start, even my computer can't start/recognize it :(

Please help someone, and sorry for my half broken English,

to fix the home button, take the screen off (again) turn the display over and have a look at the gold prongs on the back of the home flex. they should be sitting up at about 45 degrees. if they have become flattened during your install just lift them up a little (be really careful they're fragile) with something like a flathead screwdriver.

take connector 4 off again, clean it, examine both ends of the flex for damage, reseat.

check the external dock for dust and debris.

check your USB cord for damage etc, use a different USB port on your computer.

as for the not recognised on itunes...the battery may be flat. plug in to wall charger for 1 hour and then try again. the computer doesn't generate as much power via USB and if the battery is truly flat

Thanks, everything worked fine expect wifi connection, I've full signal on the wifi-bar, however, when I enter youtube app or safari it's say no connection to the net :(

try resetting network connections. go to settings/general/reset/reset network settings. hopefully this will work. unless this is a jailbreak problem?

by

thanks a lot it worked,

Btw, is it possible to replace a home button with broken prong without replacing the display?

by

if you follow the guide to lift off the digitiser you'll get to the home button, no need to buy anything apart from the flex for home button. it's fairly straight forward.. the flex is shaped like an L and passes through a hole in the midframe. it shouldn't need anything else, there is a bit of tape adhesive on the flex or reuse the one on the back of the home button. sorry yours broke! glad to have helped out and got the phone working again

thanks, found it :)

Since I had you helping me here, I also repaired a 4g for a friend. Everything works perfect, except the net connection.

I reseated network connections, but I can see it's a jailbroken phone, so what to do next? ;P

Sorry for asking this much,

First thing I would do is carefully reopen iPhone and carefully reseat Cable #4. Hopefully this will be the easy fix. Good luck.

I am having a similar problem, dropped my phone in bilge water, grabbed it immediately... sucked out water, phone keep turning on, when i tried to turn it off. Finn-ally got phone to stay off, place in rice, blew out area's. Opened to see where the water had gone! only in power up port, and mini jack shows half pink/ half white... cleaned with alcohol, allowed to dry more, went to power up, nothing. opened ensured connections where good, they appear good batt volts at 3.6v. tried to charge via USB wall adapter, will not heat up or appears not charging. will not power up or show that its powering up? I'm guessing maybe the power on button at top, or bottom charge port? any Ideas of what to try first?

Update

Received my replacement parts... replaced, docking station, batt! I still have no love from the phone. I'm really wanting to check out the power on button on the top? Is there anyway to test it with a volt meter?

I even purchased a FM transmitter, I tried it on my Itouch, and noticed when I pressed the home or Power button, it would activate... tried to charge over night, and plugged in the FM thingy and hit the power button. nothing!

try the dock first. clean all again and again. sometimes that works and saves replacing anything. make sure you clean all the flex and connectors too!

I just opened to check out the number four connector, and noticed my home button was broken! that wouldn't cause it not to power up though? Is there a way to test the power on button? (top button to reboot, or turn on the phone?)

by

is it recognised by itunes?just check that if plugged in to mains whether the vibrate works. if it does then it may be the lcd connection is damaged/dirty/corroded and you just can't see that phone is powering on. that's why i say clean again and again, you often miss something. home button shouldn't be a problem... i think if that still isn't working you may have a problem with your dock hence no powering on.
