iPhone 7 over heating, no service, won't charge after screen replaced

I had an iPhone 7 that needed the screen replaced after it was shattered. I replaced the screen and everything was functioning properly after. In a very short period of time the battery drained, the phone had no service, the phone was warm to the touch and it could not be charged. I put the old screen on and everything was fine. I tried another screen and had the same issues. Two bad screens or might something else be going on? Has anyone had this issue before?

Answer this question I have this problem too

Have you tried doing phone calls on the phone after the screen replacement to test the hardware on the front camera such as:

  • Top microphone (used when speaker phone is activated)
  • Earpiece (Hear during calls)
  • Proximity Sensor (Face detection to turn off screen when phone is put near your ear)
  • Automatic Brightness (Phone adjusts brightness accordingly depending on your environment (sunlight))
  • Front Camera

If any of these are faulty they can be the cause of the phone heating up a lot and rapid battery drain indicating one of those things are causing a short circuit resulting in abnormally high power draw.

Another thing to check, can you read the IMEI and modem firmware in settings > general > about phone? And also the IMEI displaying when typing *#06# in the phone dialer?

The phone wouldn't stay on long enough to test more than the touch and camera which were working fine. After thinking about the reason it was powering off to begin with, I think it was doing that as a safeguard because it was getting too hot. As soon as I put the original screen back on all of the function was normal, it was not over heating, charging came back, cell service was fine. It was very bizarre and I've never had this happen before. Two replacement screens and neither of them worked correctly. I'm waiting for another 7 to come in to test those screens to see if this happens again. If it does I then know it definitely is the screens and not the phone.

It must be the battery ribbon, change the ribbon or unplug it and plug it

I tried replacing the batter. Still didn’t work. Thank you though. Maybe when she dropped it something happened with the motherboard. I don’t go there.
