I have battery problem

Hello!

I have water damaged MacBook pro (a little). When it happened, I was flip over my laptop immediately and take it to some repair center. I've waited for 3 days. Fortunately, my MacBook is alive! Everything is fine. But laptop can't work with the battery. I saw a login screen, then my laptop shut down. But it working fine without battery (only AC).

However, I don’t have time anymore, I took it back. I want to order a new battery and replace it later. I worked 1 day, and my laptop was fine with AC. But today my laptop shut down randomly (3 times). Here are my questions:

  1. SMC reset will be helpful? Maybe the battery is fine (i'm not sure, water was in touch bar area). May I plug in the battery and do reset SMC?
  2. While I'm waiting for a new battery, may I reset SMC without the battery?
  3. Laptop work with battery a few seconds. Is it mean charging circuit troubles?

P.S. Sorry for my English)

Run this app on your system: CoconutBattery take a snapshot of the main window and post it here for us to see Adding images to an existing question

I can't do that with connected battery. I do not have time to run this app, because a laptop will shut down after 5-10 sec. With AC adapter I have no information about battery

With the system powered by the MagSafe are you able to get it to run at all? Longer that a few secs, hopefully minutes or hours?

by

No. MacBook has the same behavior with MagSafe AC or without it (if battery connected)

Then you have a deeper problem than just needing a new battery. You’ll need to either take the logic board out to properly clean it or bring it into an independence shop so they can try to fix it. I’m suspecting you have corrosion damage.

Old repair center dried and cleared motherboard and all components of MacBook from the water damage. I'm not sure, they told me that. I hope, it's true. I go to the new repair center next week to solve my problem with a battery. Do you have any more advice?

That maybe, doesn't mean he missed something or he failed to see the damage.
