No power-on after replacing SSD

I’m very confused now. This machine came in to our shop with a broken display. The customer declined repair after hearing the exorbitant cost of replacing these displays. They asked what we’d offer for it for parts, so we started our evaluation.

As part of this - we took the SSD out and put it back in. And incredibly, after doing that, the machine no longer powers on whatsoever. Already tried resetting the SMC with no change.

Veterans of iFixit - does this make any sense to you?

Have you tried SMC reset? Shift+Control+Option keys and the Power button at the same time.

Did you first disconnect the battery and press the power button to make sure the system did not have a charge before taking the SSD out?

I don't believe so. That's an oversight. Is it likely that ruined the board?

The new MacBook's are fussy! And I've just gotten into the habit of discharging the MBP TB & Fn systems as well.
