Is it possible to replace a mount / bracket / holder for the Flexible Flat Cable connector of the keyboard port of an Lenovo Yoga 2 13" laptop mainboard - because it was broken? Since then 6 keys of the keyboard are not working.

If it’s possible - where to order that part? I don’t even know the exact term or identifier for it. What’s the exact term for this part?

Anyway, I managed to glue the piece together again and it looks as it does it’s job by applying pressure between the port and the FFC contacts, but still 6 keys are not working. The initial reason for opening the laptop and touching the plastic mount / holder and breaking it because of wrong handling, was, that there went some black tea (without sugar) over and in the keyboard and I wanted to clean it. But all the keyboard backlights are working after a drying break of 3 weeks and all the other keys as well. Do you think the reason could be the fluid damage, still? The non working keys are NOT the keys where the fluid was gone. The non working keys are G, H, Ä, <, ArrowUp (german layout) which are quite DISTRIBUTED across the keyboard. Is there a way to check if those keys are dependend on the same contact of the FFC, that may not have be enough pressure from the broken (but glued) plastic mount / holder / bracket?

Thanks in advance for ANY feedback!

Wow, thanks. One of the answers I needed. On the photos of your link the entire "port" seems to be pictured. I guess, to exchange that part there is complex work neccessary, soldering included.

But I just wanted to change the movable white plastic bracket part of it. If I order it from ebay, will it be possible to remove only the white plastic bracket of it and stick it into my port? Or will it get broken as well when I try to remove it? What would be the working way to remove it and stick it in, again? So, where do a have to pull or push?

it wouldnt be easy as the pins are through the clip, you would probably need a hot air station and soldering iron to replace the whole part. it would probably be as cheap to get someone to replace it for you

Ok, thanks for this advice!

this is the basic process extremely simplified, but i would not start on this kind of solder work if you have never done soldering before.

If someone brought this into my store, id probably charge around 95$ CAD for the procedure with their part, no warranty. 129$ 6month warranty if i supplied the part.
