Memory upgrade after purchased

Hi,

I have a question: I purchased 8 GB memory and 256 GB SSD for this model

But can I upgrade this model from 8 GB memory to 16gb memory?

Please any help!

Hi!

Unfortunately, No you cant’t upgrade the memory and the SSD for this MacBook Pro because its soldered into place in the motherboard.

To clarify Zander's answer the RAM in this series is soldered in so no you can't upgrade your RAM as there is no means to do so. Your only hope is to buy a replacement logic board which has 16 GB of RAM on it (which would be expensive!)

As for the SSD: While this system does offer a replaceable SSD it uses a custom SSD only the Function Key models use. Review this great guide: The Ultimate Guide to Apple’s Proprietary SSDs jump down to Generation 5. You will need one of the Gen. 5A SSD's.

Given the added cost of the SSD it might make sense getting a new system which already has 16 GB and has the larger RAM it would be cheaper in the long haul. Then sell your old system to recoup some money.
