Why is my controller not charging?

so when i plug my controller to the USB it turns red and then when i pres the PS button in the controller it flashes red and yellow then it connects to my PS4 but it disconnects and a message shows in my PS4 ( DUAL-SHOCK 4 disconnected charge the battery ) but i cannot charge it.my PS4 works with my other controller
